BEFORE YOU START

How to actually use it

Do I need more than one antioxidant serum?

No. Pick the one matched to your skin type and use it every morning. Layering two vitamin C serums does not add protection — it mainly adds irritation, and doubles what you spend.

In what order do I apply it?

Thinnest to thickest. Cleanse, then the antioxidant serum on dry skin, then any corrective, then moisturiser, then sunscreen. Give the serum a minute to settle before the next layer.

Morning or evening?

Antioxidants go in the morning — their job is to absorb the UV and pollution damage your skin meets during the day. Retinol and acid-based correctives go in the evening, when skin is not also defending itself.

Can I use vitamin C with retinol?

Yes, and they work well together — just not in the same layer. Use the antioxidant serum in the morning and the retinol at night. If your skin is reactive, start with alternate evenings before going nightly.

How should I store it?

Capped, upright, away from direct light and heat. A pale gold tint is normal over time; a deep amber or brown colour means the L-ascorbic acid has oxidised and the bottle should be replaced. Do not decant it into a travel pot.

How long before I notice a difference?

The antioxidant protection starts with the first application, but you will not see it — that is the point of it. Visible changes in tone and texture generally take eight to twelve weeks of consistent morning use.

My skin is sensitive — where do I start?

Patch test behind the ear for two days, then introduce the serum every other morning for the first week before moving to daily. If stinging persists, stop and speak to a dermatologist.

Is sunscreen still necessary if I use an antioxidant?

More so. UV exposure consumes the antioxidants sitting in your skin, so the serum buys you time rather than replacing protection. An antioxidant in the morning without sunscreen is an unfinished routine.
